journal 2 (Daniel)

Biomedical engineering is a new field from the combination of engineering, medicine and human biology. When it brings us more possibility to cover people, it also brings some ethical issues in some aspects.

About first question:
As far as I concerned, it is necessary to enhance human body by some specific biomedical technologies. One of the reasons is that human need to change to protect us from environment-breaking or global viruses. There is no doubt that human would extinct in some day like dinosaurs. Thus, if we want to keep multiplying, human should enhance ourselves to adjust the environment.

About second question:
I think we shouldn’t focus on if we should do it, because nobody can answer it and nobody can represent human to answer it. The most important rule in this world is balance, which means no matter it bring good things or bad things, the opposite ones also come. It can’t be moved by anything. For example, if we lengthen the life span of humans, it must result in denatality and population deceases. Therefore, if people can stand the result we make, it is the good thing we should do.

About third question:
In my opinion, the reason why human differs from the other species is that human can think and create. If prosthetic body parts don’t affect the functions of cerebration, prosthetic humans are still humans. Prosthetic body parts are positive things for people; at least they make people dying alive.

About forth question:

Firstly, I don’t think people should use prosthetic brain in their heads. Nothing can take place brains in our body, even if computer develops so fast. It is because computer can just make logical judgment without emotion functions. Secondly, everyone should be responsible for his or her actions; just like that a car makes something wrong, people will fix it.
